Travel

The 40th ICLP will be held in the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex in the Dallas suburb of Richardson, where the University of Texas at Dallas is located. DFW is served by two major airports. The main airport is the DFW International Airport, home airport of American Airlines with direct flights to nearly every major city in the US as well as direct flights to major international cities in Europe, Asia, and South America. The second airport is Dallas Lovefield Airport (DAL), the home airport of Southwest Airlines, that connects mostly to US cities.

Both airports are less than 30 minutes by car, taxi, Uber, or Lyft. Both airports are also connected to the city of Richardson via the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART). The nearest station to the Richardson DoubleTree hotel (recommended conference hotel) is Galatyn Park station on the DART Red line. You may have to change trains if you take the DART train from any of the two airports (from DAL airport, first you have to take a bus to get to the train station). Travel time on DART from DFW International Airport will be approximately 1.5 hours (link here), while from Dallas Lovefield will be approximately 1 hour (link here). Once you arrive at the Galatyn station, best is to call an Uber or Lyft using the app on your phone. The Richardson DoubleTree is about 8 minutes by car (please do not attempt to walk as you have to go through under a highway).

Area restaurants

There are restaurants within walking distance of the DoubleTree Hilton hotel. Walking underneath the US 75 Highway is not recommended. Please use the hotel shuttle. There are plenty of restaurants located near the DoubleTree Hotel across Campbell Road within 5 minutes of walking. The DFW Metroplex is famous for its restaurants, and there are many located within short driving distance from the Hotel.

Hotel Shuttle

The DoubleTree Hilton has limited shuttle service to places within a few miles of the hotel, which includes the UT Dallas campus. The shuttle will drop you, but not pick. If you miss the bus, you can take advantage of the shuttle. However, keep in mind that there is only one shuttle to service all the guests in the hotel.

Tourist Attractions

The Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex consists of two cities of Dallas and Forth Worth, respectively, both with their own attractions. Public transportation is available in Dallas and its suburbs: the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) trains will take you from the Double Tree Hilton to downtown Dallas where many of the attractions are located. A DART train station is located near the Double Tree Hilton (perhaps 7 minutes by car or Uber/Lyft; walking is not recommended as a highway cuts through). To travel to Fort Worth, the best option is to rent a car or pre-arrange a tour.

Dallas downtown attractions include Dallas Museum of Art (with an ongoing impressionist art exhibition titled “From Monet to Matisse”), Klyde Warren Park, Perot Science Museum, Nasher Sculpture Center, Reunion Tower, Sixth Floor Museum, etc. There is a free tourist trolley that you can board near the Dallas Museum of Art and Klyde Warren Park that will take you through the Dallas Uptown neighborhood. It’s worth a ride. You can get off and get on the trolley at any stop.
